Lignum vitae Lawn bowl skull.

A thoroughly unique piece and possibly the worlds most detailed and anatomically accurate carving of a human Skull ever undertaken. Not only is this study carved from Lignum vitae, the hardest timber known in nature, it is highly detailed and has been painstakingly carved both inside and out, the cranium is cut just as the old medical studies were and the brain case opens to reveal the inner skull space where the brain would lay. The Skull cap is secured buy powerful magnets that mean this skull can be used as a stash box or simply kept as a curio ornament.
The origins of this piece are still represented in the stand it sits in which reveal it was once an antique Crown green Lawn bowling ball. I have reassembled the off cuts and pinned them with brass rivets to make an attractive stand for the skull to rest in.
This skull also features and articulated jaw sprung with jewellers elastic so the jaw can be opened to reveal the realistic and accurate dental patterns in this skull. Some of the teeth have been removed to replicate many of the old medical specimens we see today where teeth were taken, broken or lost over time and during study.
My aim was to make this skull as realistic as humanly possible and try to keep the look and feel of a real antique human skull in all its glory. I have spent many months working on this piece to ensure every detail is perfect and accurate.
This skull is a once in a life time piece for the serious collector and would be the jewel in the crown of any skull collection both real and carved.
