Quartz crystal Scarab.

A Stunningly gorgeous piece of natural Quartz Crystal, intricately hand carved in to a Scarab Amulet. highly polished to show the depth and clarity of this stone and hung on a hand woven red rope cord with a bone toggle fastener.
this bold statement piece was carved to look authentic and emulate the traditional Scarabs carved and carried by the ancient Egyptians as symbols of good luck and wealth.
the Scarab was held in high esteem and had links to both worlds and was often sent with the dead to ensure safe passage to the next life. the Scarab was closely associated with Khepri the great Dung Beetle who rolled the Sun across the sky every day. each day starting over and working in a continual unbroken circle representing rebirth and ever lasting life.
I used Natural Rock Crystal Quarts for this carving just as some original examples were. the Ancients mastered carving this stone thousands of years ago even though the stone is notoriously hard and tricky to carve. somehow they managed to complete these pieces using little more than copper and sand.
this stone measures a shade over 30mm in length and some 23mm wide so is a nice comfortable sized Amulet that would look great in any era with any outfit. the rope is easily removable on this one so the stone can be held easily to appreciate its calming tactile qualities.
