Amethyst Scarab amulet.

This Scarab beetle Amulet is hand carved from a gorgeous piece of natural Amethyst. Based on traditional style pendants worn by the ancient Egyptians to symbolise creation and rebirth and the circle of life. The Scarab was always associated with Khepri the god who rolled the sun across the sky each day from sun rise to sun set then started again the next day. Just as the Scarab rolled its treasure across the sand and seemingly self created bursting from balls of dung apparently without parents. These Scarabs were often worn over the heart and placed with the dead to go with them to the afterlife.
This one is 40mm in length and is hung on a hand woven tan cord with an antler toggle.
