Tagua Nut skull

This handsome skull is hand carved from a Tagua Palm nut. A naturally hard and durable nut that is often referred to as vegetable Ivory and has often been used as an alternative for the real thing. These nuts have a small irregular hollow in the middle but other than that pass pretty well as real Ivory to both look at and work with.

I have not gone as far as i normally would to the underside of this skull as the hollow space won’t allow for that but this skull is delicately detailed and as anatomical as the nut would allow for and would make

a lovely tactile fidget skull to keep on the desk or in a pocket to muse and mull over in thoughtful moments.
