QE2 Elegant Anarchy plate

Elegant Anarchy, this piece is a Wedgwood Jasper ware side plate, made for the Wueens silver jubilee in 1952. I have delicately hand carved the cameo to reveal her skeletal form.

I know this will stir some and emotions are valid always, but also art reflects life, and death and the two always meet eventually. This is lost on some but in these carvings I always try to show that we are all fallible, everyone must die pauper queen and king, none of us can escape that fate. For all her wealth and power she was as vulnerable and delicate and beautiful as all of us are. Flesh and bone, a mortal being, a man, a mum, a sister, a mother a daughter, a queen, but also a human being.
