Lignum Vitae wood Scarab amulet

£125.00

this Classic Amulet of a Scarab beetle is based on the popular Egyptian pendant of Dung beetles worn for protection and safe passage to the next world. the Scarab beetle was long believed to be able to travel from our world to the next and back again at will. they were often sent with the dead to ensure the way was clear and entry to the next life was a surety.
scarabs were held in high esteem and held sacred, representing the neverending circle of life and death, as the beetles were often seen erupting from the sun baked balls of dung seemingly with out parents or conception, they were believed to just regenerate at will and appear in this world with ease.
the Scarab was said to roll the sun over the sky each day in an endless cycle just as the little beetles tirelessly rolled balls of dung over the sand, always busy and always there, always returning time after time as one circle ended so another began.
🪲 this one is hand carved from Lignum vitae (wood from tree of Life) and is hung in a hand woven black rope and matching toggle.
