large Lignum Vitae Skull

this large Skull is hand carved from Lignum vitae wood (the tree of life) one of the hardest and most beautiful woods known to grow.
this skull has anatomical details including dental pathology and missing teeth.
the piece of wood was taken from an old lawn bowling ball that was already well over a hundred years old when I got it so the timber has some gorgeous colour and natural cracks in the surface from a life time of use.
I have carved this piece as a desk ornament which can be picked up and handled as a thought provoking tactile object.
