Dragonesque Pendant
this Handcarved piece is inspired by the Drangonesque pieces that were popular in the Iron Age in the British isles, worn by the Celts and then adopted by the Romans. often worn as broaches with thick bronze pins to secure wooden shawls and cloaks.
I have carved this one as an Amulet from a beautiful piece of Lignum Vitae wood. one of the hardest timbers in nature. this wood has a delicate perfumed aroma and is rich in natural oils making it durable and beautiful. this wood polished its self and darkens with wear so it never needs treating or sealing and only gets better with age.
this piece was once a Lawn Bowling ball and is well over a hundred years old already.
hung on a Manila rope cord with Wooden toggle.
