Hove Amber Cup replica

£75.00

During groundwork’s in the Town of Hove during the 1850’s a remarkable discovery was made. A cup carved from solid Baltic Amber, beautifully carved and preserved in near perfect condition until the workman’s spade caught it and chipped it causing the handle to come off when it was lifted from the soil. But some 3500 years ago this cup was buried in a Bronze Age burial mound and remains to this day one of the most beautiful works of art from that period ever found in England.

I have replicated the carving and cast this cup in food safe resin so that is could be used on occasion or just displayed as a replica of the artefact that has come to represent a time and place that we can now only dream of.

Please Note the cup is authentically shaped so it won’t stand up and can’t be set down level, just as the original was carved.
